My First Impression
Missing a lot of the book
Missing a lot of the most Interesting Parts of the book
Portions of the book that made my mouth fall to floor were missing

The actor who played Abraham did well. He remided me of a young Liam Neeson. He did look like Lincoln. Him and the axe were meant to be.

It's sad that the movie did not include both Abraham's wives and all three kids. His first ally was never mentioned. We see that he is studying for a law degree, but do not see him as a lawyer or much of his rise in politics. If you have read the book you will see the missing pieces.

Roanoke, Edgar Allen Poe and John Wilkes Booth are all MISSING! What? These are my favorite parts of the book! I was sad to see no mention of these events and people. I actually thought Henry was Poe when he and Abe first talked in the bar. The very end of the book which I thought was a great end was not even remotely mentioned.

It is a great movie as far as the battles. Special effects were amazing and portraying Abe as the Vampire Hunter, great. The character development not so much.

Gettysburg was in the movie and was definitely one of the highlights.
The Southern soldiers and the silver a good twist.

But all in all if you have read the book, don't expect the movie to be based on it. Sadly it is not.

True Blood - Episode 7, Season 5

In the Beginning


There is chaos within the the Authority as soon as Roman is killed. Salome is now Chancellor. Russell is free & claims to be born again. Salome confesses she let Russell out of his cement prison. Salome, Nora & Russell meet with the Council, Bill & Eric. They plead their case. They speak of their love for Lilith & announce that everyone will drink from her! They do & hit the streets of New Orlean's French Quarter. High as Kites! They ALL go on a total killing spree, per Lilith....they are lead to a karaoke club & it's a blood bath. In the midst of it all, Lilith appears to them & she allows them to continue to feast! Godric appears to Eric, reminding of the horror that is happening.

The fairies test Sookie's luminescence. It seems her fairy light is having issues & that she could possibly lose her power because she is half fairy. Awwww Jason tells Sookie their parents death is not her fault. Jason visits Jessica which does not end well. She bites him & he shoots her in the head. Both wounds will heal, but the anger may not. Sookie decides to start using her fairy light hoping to use it all & become "human". Jason sees what looks like a crazy lightening storm & runs off to investigate.

Andy is questioned about the store clerk's murder while Sam is searching the back room of the store looking for evidence of the masked "super natural" killers. He locates "Obama" masks. Andy later visits Bud Deerborn to get some advice & is turned away. Bud is beckoned by his mistress.
Hoyt is "rescued" by the masked killers. He knows the majority of the group & they are catching his interest! Hmmm... He tells the group about Jessica. They ask if he hates her & he says he does! eeekk..

Alcide starts training for the fight to become the pack leader. Martha tells Alcide of how JD (present pack leader) stepped aside after Martha's husband died. He stepped aside, trained Marcus & let him become Pack Leader. She says he has promised he is not on V. She thinks JD should be pack leader. JD later meets with the pack about taking V. He even offers it to Emma. Martha walks in & that's that.

Arlene is broken up about Terry. Holly catches her watching their wedding video. Patrick & Terry get a quick visit from their friend the Afreet. Terry takes Patrick's gun & comes very close to taking his own life.

Lafayette makes his way down to Mexico to confront Jesus' grandfather. He walks into the house & finds Jesus' head as he & his mother had seen in their dreams. Lafayette wakes up tied up & mouth stitched shut. The grandfather starts the ritual to get the family Brujo back from Lafayette. That is until his pregnant wife attacks him & stabs him repeatedly with a knife. She then removes the stitches from Lafayettes mouth.
Sam checks in on Luna. She is spastic & wants join Sam in the search for these killers. Sookie visits Luna with treats in hand. Sam is told to leave after visiting hours. He catches the scent of one of the killers & goes after him.

Tara gets a visit from her mother at Fangtasia. She just happens to be Pole Dancing. Hahaha. Her mother came to tell her that she is dead to her, she is a pastor's wife after all. Tara tells her to just go! Pam consoles aTara for a minute! Pam does have a micro-tiny soft side. Awwwww...

Overall Opinions & Thoughts:
Salome always seemed to me to be hiding something. There was a secretive side to her. Now we know what it was. Releasing Russell, plotting this change within the Authority & in fact not a mainstream believer. Wow!

Not a fan of Russell being back & so powerful. He is a loose cannon. I think he will turn on anyone even everyone if felt like it. I do think, Steve Newlin could be the new Talbot. Russell could definitely use a new Talbot.

I don't know if was a good idea for Hoyt to tell his new group of peeps about Jessica. They don't like all these super naturals inhabiting their town. Does Hoyt realize what he did by telling them about Jessica? Uh-Oh...

Lafayette going back to Mexico, what! Love can do crazy things & Lafayette did just that. Going back to Jesus' grandfather's house. Obviously doing this on his own was going to be risky, even with the crazy Brujo mojo. The grandfather was there waiting & could have been successful if not for his pregnant wife. Woah.....that was super close Lafyette!!!

True Blood - Episode 6, Season 5

Hopeless
Episode picks up with....

Alcide being pulled away...wolves popping out of everywhere & Russell ready to attack Sookie. Ahhh but Sookie's Fairy Light comes to the rescue & threw Russell across the room. Eric was ready to give Russell his True Death when Bill plead with him & said their lives could be spared if they brought him in Alive. The decision was made for them though when the Authority showed up. Russell vowed he will be the "Authority" as he is taken away. Bill & Eric Glamour Sookie & Alcide to erase the Russell venture.

Jessica & Tera go at it over Hoyt at Fangtasia. Once again, Tera is put in her place by Pam. Followed by a semi compliment. You know, Pam Style. Hoyt tells Jessica he thinks she still cares about him. Ahhh that fight with Tera, it gave him hope. *sigh*

Patrick Devins & Terry Bellefleur suddenly see smoke coming from Ellis' bunker where he was tied up. They start running over to it & are too late. The Afreet comes up & for the first time Patrick sees this mysterious & angry spirit as it chases them. They get out of there and Terry goes back to Merlotte's to tell Arlene that he is cursed. He tells her he needs to leave town. Arlene tries to plead with him, but Terry's not changing his mind.

Sam & Luna are sent to the Hospital after both are shot. Emma runs away in baby wolf form to her grandmother, Martha (Marcus' mother). Sam tells her Emma got away. Emma does show up with Martha. Promising to protect her Martha takes Emma home. Luna wants to know how & why they were attacked. Only Shifters know of other Shifters. Sam talks to Andy about working together to find these masked killers. Andy & Sam pay a visit to the local hunting shop. The store employee knew who Sam was & Sam could "smell" it & shot him with an arrow (saving Andy's life)

Sookie is not Glamoured by Bill & cries her way home. Aclide was Glamoured and has no idea what happened. Hahaha Eric tells Alcide to protect Sookie, but not to have feelings for her....Hahaha
Alcide wakes up in Sookie's fluffy pink bed!!! Loved it! Sookie gives Alcide back his memory & he leaves raging mad. Russell was the Vamp behind all the V issues back in Jackson. Alcide goes back to pack & announces he will accept Pack Master. Let the Fight for Power begin.

Jason dreams of his dad again. He swears to God he will take care of the Vampire who killed them. Ahhhh, but what timing... His dad says, "The only thing you have to fear is....." and Jason wakes up. Jason tells Sookie about seeing Hadley at the Fairy Club. They go back to the field where the club is to look for questions to be answered. Were their parents truly killed by a vampire?

Lafayette pays his mom a visit. She tells him Jesus is in trouble. She says he is with the bad man who made him drink goat blood. That would be his grandfather in Mexico... Eeek ...

The Authority welcomes Bill & Eric back with many gracious toasts and congratulations! The iStakes are immediately disarmed & removed. Roman is very happy and is ready to celebrate with an 18th Century treat. Roman also announces he wants to execute Russell that very night. Russell is brought to him & the Council. The clash of Belief's come out of the Flood Gate!

Roman initiates the I-Stake with his phone & nothing happens? Then all of a sudden in vamp speed tables are turned...Russell is loose with a stake in one hand & Roman in the other. Ohhhhh...the blood splatter & then a disintegrating Roman. Roman gone way too soon, gone way too soon.

Overall Opinions & Thoughts:
Will Hoyt's Feelings once again go awry over Jessica. There is that Man Rule, not to go after friend's ex's, but does that pertain to girls or better yet Vamp's. Hmmmm... I think she needs to once and for all decide...Hoyt or No Hoyt. I don't think he can be strung along any longer. Poor Hoyt!

Luna is MAD! I definitely wouldn't want to be on her bad side! If it wasn't for her bullet wound she'd be a foce to be reckoned with. The attackers better hide!

 Woah...Roman! He went way too soon. I know a play on words, since as a character he is a Very Old Vampire, but we were just getting to know him. I wish he could have stayed around longer. Maybe he can be Godric & can come back as a spirit. BRING BACK ROMAN!!!!

Russell, as crazy as ever! He killed Roman - The Authority....what will he do with this new found power! Vamp's everywhere should be nervous. They should be very nervous.

True Blood - Season 5, Episode 5

Let's Boot and Rally

As Sookie and Alicide are getting hot and heavy they are interrupted by.....Sookie getting sick and Eric and Bill. Hahahaha.... Bill and Eric ask Sookie to help them find Russell Edgington with the help of the only person who knows where he is, an employee of Alcide's. Sookie will read his mind. Sookie sees that a woman has dug up Russell. A member of the Authority! uh-oh...Could it be Nora?

The Authority is keeping a close eye on Eric and Bill. They decide they need to speed things up and start an "iStake" countdown....yes if there's no Russell by dawn....there's no more Eric and Bill. They do find Russell and he's looking in good color. Eric goes in for the kill and Alcide disappears in a roar! What timing...

Lafayette is freaking out because of his Brujo side. He has a mini breakdown and then asks Jesus for a sign that he is up there. He is pleading for help. Both Lafayette and his mother see Jesus's head (mouth stitched shut). Is this the sign?

Terry and Patrick are tied up in the underground bunker they found. They are blaming their fellow unit member, Brian Eller, for all the fires and death. Eller explains that he has seen "the evil" (Afreet)  in the fire and it is coming for all of them because of all the innocent people they killed. Eller is consumed by "the evil" in the bunker. Now there are only 2 left.

Jason dreams that he is having breakfast with his parents (He-Man PJ's and all) and he sees that they are bleeding from vamp bites. Could Vampires be the true reason for their death? Ha...then the phone rings and he wakes up naked.

Andy also wakes up to his phone ringing and naked. What did all that Fairy Light do to them and their clothes?

Jason and Andy are called to investigate the deaths of Sam's shifting friends who are both shot in the head. Another "poor Sam" moment. He is questioned about their death by Andy. Sam goes to Luna to tell her about Suzanne and Emery. Leaving her house Sam is shot and Luna too as she runs to his rescue. Emma comes outside and is told to run. She turns into a baby wolf and takes off.

Tera begins to accept her role at Fangtasia. She is dressing for the part and bartending. She immediately gets reprehended for attacking the first human she sees at the bar. She now knows not to do such things in public. Jessica spots Tera in Fangtasia and goes over to talk.This is actually good for Tera. They are both new vamps and Jessica can really help her through the confusion! Jessica opens Tera's eyes a lot. That is until Jessica catches Tera attached to Hoyt's neck! Oops!

Overall Opnion & Thoughts:
A good episode, but what True Blood episode is not! I am intrgued with Tera and Jessica's relationship. Before Tera's change I really don't recall them talking at all. Now, that they have soemthing in common, I can't wait to see where this goes! What a force to be reckoned with if they become BFF's....I'd not get in their way!!!
Terry's life had changed for the better! I am sad he has all these memories coming back with the arrival/road trip with Patrick Devens. I guess it's nice to know what his mysterious past is, but he was finally happy and married! Him & Arlene were Happy! Let's hope the AFreet doesn't get him. Kick some Evil Butt, Terry! We know you can!

TV Series - The Gates

The Gates, aired on ABC in 2010

The Gates is what you may have guessed a gated community with an assortment of residents. This upscale community has its own school district, town center and police department. People who live here don't necessarily ever have to leave. Hmmmmm.....convenient isn't it...


Nick Monohan, his wife Sarah and kids (Charlie and Dana) move to The Gates from Chicago. Nick has accepted the Chief of Police position. He moves in with no idea there is such a "melting pot" of residents awaiting him and his family. What Nick has yet to find out is that The Gates has more meets the eye! There are Vampires, Witches, Werewolves and even a Succobus living amongst the normal well to do families.

I enjoyed the show. I watched it in it's entirety on netflix and I would definitely watch more! If only another network could pick it up!

There is a lot of building tension between the Vampires and Werewolves. I would like to see if they can keep their peace. The Succobus is an interesting addition to the community. The Witches are good and bad and may just be a driving force behind the Tension within The Gates!

13 Episodes full of revealed secrets and a season/series finale definitely wanting more!

True Blood - Season 5, Episode 4

"We'll Meet Again."

Pam comes begrudgingly to Tara's rescue & uses her "Maker Powers" to forbid Tara from future visits to the tanning bed. Pam brings Tara back to Fangtasia to find Eric there waiting for her. He & Bill have returned to Bon Temps for the time being. Eric has a "Where is Russell" interrogation. Pam is broken up by the change in Eric & tells him to release her (as your maker I release you). After a day's sleep Eric & Pam talk & Eric decides he will release Pam. Sadly she accepts & he does the deed.

Sookie is called "An Angel of Death" by Lafayette. Sookie tells Jason she is guilty & killed Debbie Pelt. She also tells Jason about Tara.


The Authority continues to break Nora & force her to confess. She does confess with the promise that Bill & Eric will not be harmed. Looks like Roman has found the other trader on the council. Chancellor Drew & he is immediately set to True Death! Ba-Bye

Andy & Jason are invited to a guy's night out. Hahaha... they are picked up for a visit to Fairy land or  Fairy Night Club. Andy meets his Fairy from the field again. Jason runs into his cousin Hadley & she spills the beans about his parents. Jason & Andy are booted out & some not so nice Fairy Power is used on them.....Hmmm


Alcide pays the Pelt's a visit. They are in town searching for Debbie. He tells them Marcus killed her. Covering up for Sookie! He tells them he then killed Marcus in return snapping his neck. Hmmm... half true. The Pelt's leave town.

Two of Sam's shape shifter friends show up  at Merlotte's to get him back out in shifter form. Sam goes out to meet them & finds both are shot in the head! Uh - Ohhhhh

Lafayette's dark side ventures out once again! He uses that mojo on Sookie's car...Eeeekkkk
Sookie has no brake & the car keeps getting faster. All she can do is jump out. She walks home & attacks the alcohol cabinet. Alcide pays her a visit to tells her he covered for her about Debbie. Alcide joins her from drinks and one thing leads to another and......

Terry & Patrick (his Sargent) make the trek to the last known residence of a fellow unit member. Terry falls asleep & he has a flashback of when his unit mistakenly killed innocent people. They find him & that he might indeed be the one behind the mysterious fires...Hmmm


Overall Opinion & Thoughts
True Blood is packed full of story lines & character development. Phew.... Episode 4 brings the end of Debbie. The Pelt's are told Debbie is dead & they leave town.  Andy Bellefleur & Jason Stackhouse get a VIP Invite to Fairy Land. Andy reunites briefly with the Fairy he randomly found last season. Jason runs into his cousin who hints to the fact that his parents death may not have been an accident (oops). There was a lot of fairy power thrown his & Andy's way. What will that do? It could definitely be a very interesting development! Sam's luckily late to meet his shifter friends. They have been SHOT in the Head, new story line. Tara is slowly being forced into her vamp life. I think that with the Eric & Pam's bond now broken, Pam will show more interest in Tara. I am very intrigued with this & where it will go. Lafayette is getting Super Scary! His inner dark witch is about ready to Erupt! You might want to RUN for cover!
Sookie & Alcide, umm enough said!
Eric & Pam tore me up...Eric releasing Pam *Sniffle, Sniffle* Eric does not expect an optimistic outcome for him & Bill once the Russell Edgington mess is cleared up. I think The Authority will come around....It's Bill & Eric.

True Blood - Season 5 Episode3

" Whatever I Am, You Made Me"
* Another awesome episode....lots of storylines going on *

Ohhhh Tara.....you are a vamp & you will need to learn to curb the appetite. Tara runs off & when she stops her new vamp senses kick in. Bringing her to a human & it's throbbing veins. As she goes in for the attack she sees her image, apologizes & is gone in seconds.

Bill & Eric are pleading with The Authority (Roman) to spare their lives, so they can track down Russell Edgington. They each receive a harness to be worn at all times. Triggered by an app (yes mobile app) if they try to escape, remove or destroy it. The harness will pierce their heart faster then a bullet. Water proof & fire proof.... one click & splat....they are too cute to be goo.

Hahahaha... meet the NEW Nan Flannagan.....Rev Steve Newlin! That makes me LAUGH! He is definitely a kiss butt. Steve tells Roman he's ready to sell humans whatever The Authority wants them to "Believe" because after all all humans want is to feel safe. Roman accepts that he can "work a crowd" & had better not let him down!

Sookie goes to Fangtasia to plead with Pam. She asks Pam to help with Tara. Pam being "Pam" tells Sookie to scram Tara is not worth her time. Eric is missing & that's what counts. Sookie uses her "fairy" power & throws Pam across the room.

Tara shows up in the woods at Merlotte's & tells Sam she's HUNGRY! After multiple bottles of True Blood & pleading with Sam not to tell Sookie or Lafayette where she is she passes out.. Be Aware of the "Out Of Order!! Danger! Keep Out!" sign on the freezer at Merlotte's.

Jason runs into a teacher of his. She's back in town & it's been 15 years. Hmmmm. He says he remembers "everything" she taught him. He later pays her a "visit". This takes a darker turn when he realizes that this relationship 15 years ago sparked his issue with so much sex.
Good job Jessica! She goes over to see Jason & he is broken up about his "sex" issues. She tells him she is first & foremost his friend. :)

Poor Arlene, Terry does not come home & when she sees him at Merlotte's he tells her he needs to go out of town. No other details. That does not go over well & she gives him an ultimatum. He just walks out!

More flashbacks from Pam!! Love it!! San Francisco - 1905 More of the brothel & her early relationship with Eric. We also see Bill & Lorena!! Pam pleads with Eric by slicing both arms. Either he changes her or she dies.
Haha....Pictures of Andy Bellefleur's bare butt ends up on Face Book....ha ha ha...Holly & Andy make their relationship more then just friends..
Jessica smells the sweetness of a strange man while shopping in a boutique. Hmmmm...he stops in to pick up a rather large dress order for his sisters (16 to be exact). I bet he smells as sweet as Sookie!

Hoyt shows up at Fangtasia all "gothed" out (eyeliner & all). Pam warns that they will see right thru him & they could eat him alive. He is okay with that.

Lafayette has a DARK Moment! Ummmm annoyed with Arlene, he pours a jug of bleach into the Gumbo on the stove at Merlotte's. eeekkk good thing he realizes he did that! Don't get on his bad side.

Tara + Tanning booth = Ouch **till next week**

Phewww....what an hour!

Overall Opinion & Thoughts:
Not a whole lot of action in this episode as the storylines are starting to develop (and there are a lot of them!) and provide a good foundation for the rest of the season.
I wonder which path will Tara take as a Vamp? Will she be good like Bill or more like Russell? I wonder what impact will happen if Pam takes more interest... Finally some great developments for Jason and it was nice to Jessica step up as a friend, but will this just make them more likely to be a "real" couple down the road? I am also anxious to see more of Pam's Flashbacks which are great! We really didn't know a lot about her past until now.

True Blood is finally here & Season 5 has started!

Episode 1 - Turn! Turn! Turn!

Sookie & Lafayette convince Pam into turning Tara. They are buried together.
- Jesus's body disappears from Lafayette's place.  :(
- A Super Angry Tara wakes up!!!!!
Bill & Eric escape the Authority, meet Eric's sister Nora & caught again after given new identities.
- Marcelles Clark & Ike Applebom were their new given identities...
Sam escapes Marcus's pack. He is caught again and forced to tell them where Marcus is buried.
Rev Steve tells Jason he is a Gay Vampire American and that he Loves Jason!

Episode 2 - Authority Always Wins!

Tara is MAD! Ransacking Sookie's house while Sookie & Lafayette try to calm her down.
- She is not ready to forgive or forget.
Alcide is told he is the New Pack Master & he rejects the title & the pack.
- Marcus's Mother tries to visit Luna to see Emma. Luna does not allow it.
Terry is having issues with a visit from his Sargent (Patrick Devins). Big Secrets
- Arlene visits Patrick while he's in town to talk about Terry.
MY FAVE Pam has FLASHBACKS of her human life and meeting Eric!
- Runs a Brothel...surprising, not really.
Bill & Eric are painfully questioned by The Authority.
- Ha, have to share --->  F**K Up One & F**K Up Two (Nan's names for them)
Rev Steve Newlin pays Jessica a visit to talk about Jason...hahahahahaha
- Really?? Hahahahahaha

ReVamped - Lucienne Diver

   ReVamped, is the second book in the Vamped series written by Lucienne Diver..

 The first book leaves us at the end of an epic battle against Mellie and the infamous Vampire Council.
  Where do we now find Gina, Bobby and Rick? In a debriefing room...now working with the FBI. Hey why not work with the good guys, right?

  They have been given an assignment. They will be sent back to high school to find out what is happening to the kids in the small town of Wappinger Falls. The kids there are showing strange behavior and some are even disappearing without a trace. Rick will go to the Jocks and Bobby to the Brains posing as fraternal twins. The Fed Agents Maya and Sid will pose as their parents. Gina on the other hand will go Goth on her own. No parents and will have her own apartment Beauty Queen to Goth Chick. Gina to Geneva. Can she do it?
 The story line is an interesting one. Gina and Bobby are supplied with blood from the Feds that allow them to walk in daylight, which makes their cover that much more believable.
  FYI - an interesting historic figure comes into the picture as an old vampire and he is featured in an animated movie that is a favorite of mine. Hint - John Cusack and Meg Ryan lend their voices

  This, like Vamped, is a quick read full of amusing quotes and references. Gina definitely likes to use them along with nicknames.

Book - Vamped (Lucienne Diver)

Reasons I picked up Vamped.
It is a small book, in number of pages and the actual size itself.
Borders was closing and it caught my eye..

A quick read and decent book...it's a good choice for the Buffy/high school prom queen in you.
This book is also full of teen slang which did make me giggle a lot.

Gina Covello, is the popular girl and in her own words, "Every girl wants to be me and every guy wants my digits".

Gina screams, kicks and digs her way out of a coffin buried in the town cemetery. She is a Vamp!
Bobby, the math geek comes looking for her carrying a bag of clothes, shoes and jewelry.
She sees him and memories start to come back. She made out with him at the after prom party.
She also remembers being with her prom date, Chaz, later on that night and his car being run off the road.
She was a Vamp and Bobby made her!

Gina's princess side comes out when she realizes she can not see herself in the mirror and tells Bobby they need to turn her hair dresser, Shirl. That only results in scaring Shirl off as she closing up the salon and them running into a group of people they had not seen before...well except for their classmate Rick. It's at this point that they come to realize that they are not the only Vamps in town. Fellow classmates were also dealing with the same fate.
This was the work of Bobby's maker. Bobby had been out celebrating a Math meet win and met a girl.
He had no idea what her name was or where she was from. He spent the night with her and she turned him. He had been hiding the fact that he was a vamp until that night in the cemetery with Gina.

Gina and Bobby find out all these deaths were the result of this mysterious Girl, Mellisande. She was making an army. Why? Gina and Bobby eventually end up coming face to face with Mellisande and their classmates and the (vampire) Council.

Gina shunned at first steps up to be a leader....Bobby is special with strange abilities....and a battle is brewing with the Council and Mellisande (not on the same side)..
So, take a bite out of this book!

Book - Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter

I had heard from a lot of people this was a good book. Even from those non-vampire fans.

Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter written by Seth Grahame-Smith  

What an interesting look at his life! There are many historic figures and events included where you can see how this could be feasible. There are some points where I am shocked by how well written and believable this book seems.

I was impressed and I think this is worthy of a re-read!

I would love to go into further detail. I would love to tell you the events and the historic figures that put me in awe, but I can't ruin the story for you.

The story does start with Abe's childhood...the many losses he endured...his knack at storytelling (thanks to his father), his many workable talents, his loves, his friends, his colleagues, the politics leading up to his presidency, his presidency, his assassination....and maybe some  *clear throat* extra curricular activities. Any thoughts as to what this was?

Fan Conventions - Have you been?

Have you been to a Fan Convention before?

Is there a television show you absolutely LOVE?

Do some research and you may surprise yourself.
There are Fan Conventions all over the world for Popular Television Shows (even movies)!

I know there have been and in some cases still are Conventions for the following:
Star Trek, Zena, Buffy, Harry Potter, The Twilight Saga, Stargate SG-1, Supernatural, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries.

There are also Conventions that bring genre's together (fantasy, comics, anime, movies, television, etc.)..
Comic Con, Dragon Con and Mega Con are just a few examples of what you can find in the US.

I have been to fan conventions for the Twilight Saga and The Vampire Diaries.
Stars, Fans, Autographs, Photo Ops, Q&A's and Special Events...this could definitely be a memorable experience for the Fan in you.

Meeting other fans is a definite high point. I now have friends from all over the country. Even France, England and Canada. These are people you can talk to about your favorite show/s and they share the same feelings. I know I have friends who are not into the tv I watch and the movies I love.

Photo Ops are memorable. In addition to getting the photo, you will have however many seconds with this Actor who plays a character you see every week.
Now, try not to get tongue tied! I have seen it all. People Fainting, Crying and Fanning Themselves....even me, I was tongue tied when I got my "Salvatore Brothers" Photo OP.
I walked off "fanning" myself. Have you seen me on YouTube yet? I'm there...eeekkk

Q&A's are another high point of the weekend and my Favorite part!
Especially when the Stars are paired together or in groups. They play off each other, share fun stories and have fun together! It is very common to hear stories about being on set, pranks, favorite moments, etc..

Dances, Costume Contests, Breakfasts and Dinners are some special events you can find at con's. They normally include appearences by con guests and often have special themes. A Fun Time all around!

Once Upon A Time -vs- Grimm

A bit off the Vampire Topic, but still within the Supernatural Realm.

Both started the week prior to Halloween. Both revolve around Fairy Tales and/or Characters. Both are worth a try!!

Once Upon A Time, is set in the small town of Storybrooke, Maine. A small town where things don't change. That is until Emma Swan shows up.
I really enjoy the flashbacks (yes I am a fan) of each character as they are today and who they were.
The majority of Storybrooke's residents are of another time and have no memory of their prior life because of a curse.
Snow White, Prince Charming, Jiminy Cricket, The Huntsman, Rumplestiltskin, Hansel and Gretel, Mirror Mirror and of course the The Evil Queen....are just a few of Storbrooke's residents.

Grimm, is set in Portland, Oregon. A much darker series which is based around a cop who discovers he comes from a series of "grimms".  Grimms are hunters who keep us safe by protecting us from supernatural creatures we don't even know exist in our world.
The Three Bears (Goldilocks), The Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk, the Queen Bee, Rapunzel, of Mice and Man and an Ogre are a few of the "creatures" we have seen at this point.

Have you watched both? Which do you enjoy more? Why?

I Love Once Upon A Time, but what can I say I am a kid at heart and I like the more colorful happier feeling of this series.
It seems like there's a new fairy tale character / resident introduced every week. I watch to see who it will be next.
I also like Ginnifer Goodwin (love Big Love & He's not that into you) and Jennifer Morrison (House & How I met Your Mother).

Grimm is finally starting to grow on me. I really didn't like it at first. It is so much darker then the other, not at all what I expected when I first gave it a try.
It really is dark in many ways. The story lines are about a city cop. The back drops are just dreary.
When Nick (Grimm) comes into contact with a supernatural creature it's face will morph into it's creepy creature form just for a moment.
I guess you just need to be ready for it.

I think everyone (female anyway) teared up when the heart was taken from someone who just wanted it back in Once Upon A Time.
Who can't feel for Nick Burkhardt's girlfriend Juliette who is starting to figure out something is not right with her once normal life. Strange things start to happen and people start lurking around the house.

An interesting Tidbit - I live in Maine....Once Upon A Time is based in a Maine town. I live in the Greater Portland Area...Grimm is based in the other Portland. I had to point that out!

My Intro to the Con World

July 2009 - I am in Dallas, TX as I am every July and spot a tote bag in a food court that says "TwiCon 2009 Dallas". What is that? I take out my phone and snap a photo. I would check this out on line when I get home. I have been a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant for over 7 years which is why I go to Dallas. In 2009, we switched to a hotel across the street. These two hotels are attached by a cat walk and my new hotel is the one houses the food court/ shops/ indoor skating rink I go to every year.

I did go home and two months remembered that photo. I looked up TwiCon and found out it was a Fan Convention for The Twilight Movie!! A convention, what? At my old hotel...NO WAY!! How did I not know about this phenomenon?  Most everyone has at some point heard of the Star Trek "Trekkie" Convention, right. No one ever told me that other shows/ movies did this.

I kept reading and found out another was in the planning stage for 2010 and this time in two Locations. The first in June in Canada and the second in July in Las Vegas. As I read further I saw something that once again caught my eye. "VOLUNTEER" This convention needed volunteers and I had a lot of volunteer experience. I looked at the on-line application and went for it. I even checked off "Volunteer Committee Chair" in addition to "General Volunteer". At the time I had a lot of volunteer experience with local cancer events including chairing the activities committee for three years for my local Relay for Life.  Two months later (Nov. 1) I got an email telling me I was accepted as the "Volunteer Fandom Chair"! I was excited, I was shocked and I was honored. I was chosen to be 1 of maybe 15 volunteer chairs to head a portion of  a convention I love everything about. What?

Conference calls started and the excitement grew as I learned more. TwiCon 2010 was to include Twilight, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries (brand new)!My first task was to help with Author Day. This was my baby along with my second half in Canada. We were given a list of 26 authors and asked to do some research and add to this list. I brought the list up to 87 possible authors. I enjoyed scouring the Internet, reading about authors and deciding if I thought they would be a good fit. We got a late start so the interest was there, but availability not so much. Prior to March 13th I had received two head shots with bios and had 2 more on their way. It was an exciting start! I was asked to work on another task to help with some excel sheet tracking. Wow! I couldn't wait to go to Planet Hollywood and do this.


Sadly March 13th, 2010 TwiCon cancelled. I was very disappointed and still am sad when I think about TwiCon, the amount of time we all spent working together and the experience I was not able to take part in. I do thank TwiCon to this day for the opportunity they gave me. They introduced me to the Con World! They offered me the Chair Position that I loved every minute of for 4 1/2 months! They gave me a reason to go to Las Vegas and I still went anyway!

I have since volunteered two times with Creation Entertainment at their Twilight Conventions in Boston. I have volunteered twice with EyeCon at their two conventions for The Vampire Diaries in Atlanta and am going back for my third in March. I have no idea if I would have found out about the Con World other wise.

If you have ever thought about attending a Convention, consider volunteering! You'll meet some of the most AMAZING people who share the same enthusiasm and excitement as you do! This a Great experience and I know I look forward to the next Con in March!
